Patnitop, one of the most beautiful hill stations in the country, is located about 100 km from Jammu and is known for its scenic spots and adventure sports. 


The original name of the hill station was Patan da talab, meaning "pond of the princess". Here are a few things you should definitely do when visiting Patnitop

The Naag Temple



This 600-year-old temple in Patnitop is dedicated to snakes. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the country visit this wooden temple, especially during the festival of Naag panchami. The temple is a feast for the eyes as it is nestled in lush green surroundings and mountains. Sanasar - another hill station in Jammu. The twin villages of Sana and Sar are located 20 km from Patnitop and are named after the lakes of the same names. The place offers tourists not only peace and serenity but also adventure activities like paragliding and camping.

Nathatop- about 14 km from Patnitop and 8 km from Shanty Ridge, Nathatop is an ideal place for nature and adventure lovers. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, it is popular among tourists for sports like paragliding and skiing Gaurikund- a natural spring located just 3 km from Sudh Mahadev Temple. It is believed that Goddess Parvati took a dip in this spring. An easy walk of about 2 km leads to this kund. Thousands of religious devotees come to Gaurikund every year in June to participate in a festival where Shiva and Parvati are worshipped in the form of Uma and Shankar.

Things to see in Patnitop

Sudh mahadev mandir- This Lord Shiva temple was built about 2800 years ago on the spot where a Shiva devotee was accidentally killed by a trishul. The trishul is made up of 3 parts and is believed to be from Lord Shiva himself. Thousands of Shiva devotees visit the temple every year.

Mantalai- known as the birthplace of Goddess Parvati, this place is located 17 km from Patnitop and is surrounded by a deodar forest. Mantamalai is home to another ancient temple of Lord Shiva.

Mansar Lake- Mansar Lake, located about 80 km from Patnitop, is an extremely important part of Hindu mythology. It is believed that this lake is sacred and pious and that a dip in it will absolve you of all your sins. There is also a nature reserve in the area, which is home to diverse flora and fauna.
