Dali Monastery
Dali Monastery is located in the town of Darjeeling. Although this monastery is popularly known as Dali Monastery, its actual name is Druk Sangag Choling Monastery. This name is written on the outer wall of the monastery as you approach the monastery from the road and pass through the arched gate. If you look at the monastery from Hill Cart Road a little further away, it seems first class. It is one of the largest monasteries with white houses built in normal Tibetan style and perched on a steep hill.
The monastery was originally built during the time
of Kyabje Thuksey Rinpoche in 1971. He became a well-known Tibetan
religious teacher. Dali Monastery belongs to the Kargyupa sect. Today
it is the headquarters and residence of Drukchen Rimpoche XII, the
illustrious head of the Kargyupa Buddhist sect. When you enter
through the arched gate and walk up the ramp, you will be impressed
by the structure of the house
