Observatory Hill View Point - one of the most beautiful places in Darjeeling
Observatory Hill View Point
Observatory Hill View Point, a hilltop lookout point, is one of the most beautiful places in Darjeeling to get a view of the panoramic mountains. There is also a temple on the top, the Mahakal Temple. Observatory Hill is located in the Mall area and is enclosed at its base by Mall Road. If you stroll along Mall Avenue, you can see this steep hill rising on one side. However, it is no longer too high.
It takes about 15 minutes uphill to reach the top. The walk can be tiring, but the reward is great. If you take Mall Road from the right side of Chowrasta Mall, you will discover steps about 100 metres away that lead closer to Observatory Hill and the Mahakal Temple. A large signboard points the way. Soon after a few steps, a steep, narrow avenue begins that leads all the way to the top. Older people may not find it easy to manage the route.
