Gombu Rocks
The Gombu Rocks are located on the Lebong Cart Road of Darjeeling. If you are coming from Darjeeling town, it should take you about 20 minutes by taxi. The Gombu Rocks on the opposite side is also quite steep and rises above the road level. However, it does not look as threatening as the Tenzing Rock. During and after the monsoon, the surface of both rocks is covered with slippery moss, which makes the climb even more difficult.
Often the moss is wiped off and the surface is sprayed with powder to avoid this problem. As mentioned earlier, the right side of Tenzing Rock is used by novice climbers and even holidaymakers to climb with the help of courses. So you will discover lots of activity on this side and lots of onlookers. There are many temporary stalls set up by Nepali vendors from the neighbourhood selling tea, momos and much more. They set up tables under a large colouring.
