Batasia loop
Batasia loop
Darjeeling has uneven land, after all it is a hilly area. The "Batasia Loop" is basically a spiral created to minimise the elevation changes of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railways. This loop, which was commissioned in 1919, is located about 5 km from Ghum. This place also serves as a memorial to the Gorkha soldiers of the Indian Army.
This loop winds through a tunnel and a
hilltop. If you want to travel this route, you need to book a ride
from Darjeeling town to Ghum. This route is part of the Darjeeling
railways. And if you just want to see this beautifully constructed
structure, you can hire a taxi and take a few shots with the loop in
the background.
Sandwiched between the Kanchenjunga on one
side and a beautiful garden on the other, this is the place you must
visit if you want to be with your friends and family.
